POST-CONFERENCE FIELD EXCURSION

LAKE KIVU AND AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK, RWANDA

DATES: 12th - 13th MAY 2019

 

Day 1

12th May 2019

Delegates will depart Kigali to travel to Karongi.

In Karongi, delegates will visit the Gas Extraction Facilities and the power plant. Driving, for one hour, towards the South West of the country where there is an accommodation zone between the Kivu basin in Rwanda and Rusizi basin in Burundi, delegates will see some outcrops which are related to the sedimentary formations under Lake Kivu. In the afternoon, delegates will drive back to Kigali where they will spend the night.

Day 2

13th May 2019

On day two, Delegates will visit Akagera National Park where they will enjoy the wildlife. Akagera National Park is a home to a wide variety of animals including the big 5. While in the park, you can enjoy: the game drive, birding, fishing, boat ride, etc.

In the evening, delegates will travel back to Kigali and then call it a day.

Fees

USD 750 per person

The fees will cover the transport, meals and accommodation for 2 days and 2 nights.
